Agriculture annual budget rises to 118 billions says, PM

Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente says annual budget for agricultural sector has increased 9% from 2011/12-2017/18

While addressing the cabinet today April 3, 2018 Dr. Ngirente has said the agriculture sector constitutes 47% of national Growth Domestic Product (GDP) through import and export.

“The contribution of agricultural sector has increased from 31% to 47% of GDP from 2012 to 2017 due to the increase of annual budget which was 80,909,259,511 and 118,633,246,429 Frw”

The increase took place in annual agriculture growth (4%), livestock and livestock products (11%), food crops (7%) and export crops (2%).

Minister Ngirente added government has introduced a new program namely Crop Intensification (CIP) in order to increase productivity and benefits for farmers.

The agriculture annual budget has increased from 80 billions to 1118 billions Rwandan Francs from 2011/12-2017/2018
