Burundian militia namely ‘Imbonerakure’ have been deployed at Rwanda, Burundi and DR Congo border last week to ensure external security threats from neighbouring countries as Burundians plan to undergo referendum in days to come.
UBM news broke the story, ruling party youth militia’s deployment has caused unrest and fears among residents at border of these countries.
“I saw a car full of arms on Thursday night, everyone was in military uniform. We are afraid for there were other soldiers before”
It is alleged the same story were told when Burundi President Pierre Nkurunziza was running for third term. However, by the time, Imbonerakure were in charge of protecting Capital city, Bujumbura by dispersing rioters.
Meanwhile, various reports by United Nations Council for Human Rights unveiled accusing Nkurunziza regime of oppressing opposition, rape, murder to name those few.
However, Government of Burundi has so far denied these allegations and is now silent regarding this issue.
