Today’s Rwanda marks the 8th National Media Dialogue; the day combined with the launch of Rwanda Media Barometer, established with the central goal of setting up a comprehensive framework of media development to be used for regular monitoring and assessment of the state of media in Rwanda.
Rwandan Minister of justice and general attorney, Johnston Busingye, hails Rwandan journalists during the occasion that they should practice journalism in a constructive way to pass over the history of destructive Rwandan journalism as accomplices to 1994 genocide against Tutsi.
The complicity role of Rwandan media in 1994 Tutsi genocide talked over with common instance like Kangura, RTLM, etc which involved in introducing hate media and spreading hate speeches of the then leaders.
Minister Busingye says the current media needs to learn from bad history in order to take part in country’s progress. He refreshes on government’s implementations to enhance the quality of Rwandan media, namely establishment of laws regulating media in Rwanda, initiating national dialogue between government and media outlets and other related institutions.

Collin Haba, the President of Rwanda journalists association (ARJ); in his remark, calls on African Journalists to professionally carry out their job and to help their leaders to deliver on right time, the right information to the citizens.
Apart from the recent reporters without borders index ranked Rwanda at 161st position in 180 countries regarding media freedom and freedom of expression, Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) in charge of media in Rwanda says is glad with the current situation of media in terms professionalism and freedom of expression.
RGB Chief Executive Officer, Prof Shyaka Anastase commends the Rwandan media steps towards development and considers media self regulation as the pillar for sustainable and matter of stepping up.
