A delegation from Congo Brazzaville turned up yesterday in Kigali for the purpose of assessing the progress on implementation of agreements signed between both parties. The Congolese Delegation and Rwandan counterpart will also discuss salary arrears for Rwandans who worked in Republic of Congo.
The visit will be an opportunity for the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Hon. Claver GATETE for the Government of Rwanda and the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Hon. Emile OUOSSO for the Government of Congo Brazzaville to sign a Memorandum of Understanding related to social security benefits transfer between two countries for citizens having served and those who will serve in both countries.
The Administrative Arrangement will enable employees who served and those who will serve in one or the other country to have access on their pension and occupational hazards benefits throughout the Social Security Institution of their country of origin. Pensioners will benefit from their pension in accordance with respective laws governing pension in their respective countries.
During the same event, the Director Generals of the two countries’ respective social security institutions i.e. Rwanda Social security Board and Caisse Nationale de Sécurité Sociale (CNSS) of Congo will also sign an Administrative Arrangement implementing the Social Security MoU signed the Minsters.
Currently Rwanda Social Security Board manages five schemes namely: Pensions, Occupational Hazards, Medical Insurance, Community-Based Health Insurance (CBHI) and Maternity Leave Benefits.
