Cibitoke: Residents in fear of ‘imbonerakure’ aggression

The Burundian members of the ruling party National Council for the Defense of Democracy (CNDD-FDD)’s youth ‘Imbonerakure’ said to regularly have physical and paramilitary trainings in Rugombo district in Cibitoke. The residents divulge anxiety about their (imbonerakure) aggressive expressions towards Rwanda and other European countries.

The rugombo residents in Cibitoke province told RPA that imbonerakure youth early start jogging in the dawn with belligerent words to Rwanda and it’s president Paul Kagame which may rise revenge to the neighbouring country.

Imbonerakure and ruling side of CNDD-FDD accused Rwanda to house Burundian refugees who allegedly involve in anti-Nkurunziza’s decisions and trying to throw him from the power.

Rwanda has had a good track record and commitment of working with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) to shelter refugees fleeing persecution from their countries within the region and recently Rwandan said ‘no interest to meddle Burundian sovereignty’.

Since the governing CNDD-FDD party chose Nkurunziza as its candidate last year, thousands have taken to the streets of the capital Bujumbura and other towns to protest on the grounds that it violates a constitutional two-term limit. The ruling party insists Nkurunziza’s first term doesn’t count because he was appointed by parliament, not elected by the people.
