Former FDLR rebel has decided to return to his home country, Rwanda while it is 23 years on since rebels, like other Rwandan refugees, have been spending their lives in Congolese forests. He says there are prophets who are telling them that they are closer to taking over power to rule Rwanda, but it seems they are fed up with such fake prophecy.
Returning rebel Lt. David Habyarimana, who waited 19 years before he returns, has confirmed to Rwanda Eye that such prophecy is being exercised on rebels but he decided to return home to his country in Nyabihu District, Northern Province but admits others are still in agony and have failed to decide whether to return or stay.
“Prophets come to the forests and start to prophecy to the FDLR rebels that sooner or later they are becoming victorious to take over the country and successfully return home” says the former rebel, who arrived in Rwanda on April 25th, passing by Rwanda-DRC border in Rubavu.
He added, “their battling potential cannot help them even take a single village”
He said the group organizes prayer sessions, officiated by high commanders, where worshippers claim to have heard from God what the future holds for the rebel group.
The spirit-driven prophets who join FDLR are said to be Rwandan refugees based in Congolese camps and are invited by the rebel group superiors while others come from Zambian refugee camps, which is also home to a number of Rwandan refugees.
Some of them come from Pentecostal Churches. One of them is a Rwandan who came from Malawi to prophecy FDLR Chief Brig. Gen. Pacifique Ntawunguka that they could return in Rwanda as soon as possible, but they waited the results from his prophecy in vain.
Lt. David Habyarimana was a chief bodyguard to Col. Bernard Rishirabake, known as Serge Shima, who is the commander-in-chief of FDLR/Foca troops in Rwindi, a region from Rutchuru, in Northern Kivu.
