FIFA President Gianni Infantino has paid tribute to over 250 000 Tutsi Genocide victims laid to rest at Kigali Genocide Memorial ahead of his two-day visit in Rwanda since Saturday February 25th, 2017.
Infantino also met President Paul Kagame in Gabiro, Gatsibo District, Western Province, where he is officiating the 14th National Leaders’ Retreat as the pair had the occasion to discuss Rwanda’s Football development.
Infantino thanked Kagame’s tireless efforts he uses to development Football in both Rwanda and in East Africa as the official sponsor CECAFA Clubs’ Challenge Cup.
Infantino promised that FIFA will continue to support Rwanda in different activities relating to Football development in Rwanda and thanked leaders for their political will in supporting Football competitions.
He said, ” FIFA will continue to support Rwanda in its different projects whose mission is to put Footbal on another level, and i really thanks the Government of Rwanda for support it provides to develop sports in general”
He said that Rwanda owns a political will and a lot of efforts are being put make a country tough and great in sports.
on the other side, President Kagame promised Infantino that doors are always open whenever the World Football Association needs Rwanda to host them such competitions and other footbal activities.
Infantino’s main visit purpose was to officially start the Five-star FERWAFA Hotel construction works where, on Saturady, he laid the foundation stone to where the hotel will be built in Remera.
FIFA has granted 65 per cent of the total amount that will be spent on the hotel construction while the rest will be provided by the government, as President Kagame promised to provide the support until the hotel is completed, eighteen months to come.
