Over half- a million gathered in Bumbogo, Gasabo District to salute RPF-Inkotanyi’s candidate, incumbent president, Paul Kagame, as he made his last stop of the overall campaigns at the venue ahead of Friday’s presidential elections.
As the campaigns reach the climax, the Citizens were in high spirits as they started the campaign journey early in the morning waiting for Kagame with mouthwatering and, his arrival was marked by bubbling cheers from the crowds, arguably the biggest turn-up of the overall campaign, with RPF flags in the air in support of the ruling political party chairman and flag bearer ahead of the Friday’s presidential polls.
Introducing RPF’s candidate Kagame to Gasabo residents at Bumbogo rally venue, Sports and Culture Minister Julienne Uwacu said, “Together, Rwandans are a force to reckon with, and we owe much to RPF and our very own Kagame. This is the time for Rwandans to recommit, like you have always asked us on trail, to double efforts to expedite development”
A number of political parties who chose to back Kagame even took an opportunity to explain to residents why Kagame is the real man to keep leading Rwanda before, the candidate himself took his word.
“Rwanda is indebted to u for not only leading forces that liberated the c’try & stopped Genocide, but also transforming Rwanda. As PL, we are committed to work with you to continue developing this nation,” promised PL’s Donatille Mukabalisa to candidate Kagame.
Kagame may still smell the victory ahead of the presidential polls given the back up from his team and the eight political parties and support from the community. But on the other hands he feels worried and fed up with those who appear to get involved in African politics, and of course Rwanda, putting question marks to their political rule.
He said, “People ask if without Kagame we will still have peace, my question is did we have peace before Kagame. How can you teach us democracy when you are contesting your own and blaming election fraud for what it has given you? We have surmounted many challenges and we will not waste any lessons”
He urged citizens to ignore them, because they are only interested in giving instructions to Rwandans while making choices as if they do not know what is right for them before they make a choice, noting that their destroying ideas should be considered nonsensical and, instead, show them who ‘Rwandans’ really are, in return.
“By now they should know us, they should know that Rwandans do not get dictated to. We choose our own path. Some call our clean cities the result of dictatorship. This shows the disdain they have for Africans. They believe Africans and Rwandans deserve to live in dirty cities. It is this mentality they apply to our politics. But we are making our own choices and I believe we will face their consequences the same way we faced and overcame the tragedy they caused”
And, in conclusion, Kagame thanked all of those who have been with him during the campaign trails across the country, as he is now looking forward to singing the song of victory once his energetic campaign speech package pays off, and end up on a winning side just on, Thursday in Diaspora and Friday, the day of elections for locals who make up the majority of voters.
