Kigali: Handover in ADEPR, former leaders in inmate cloth

Tuesday May 30th, ADEPR general assemble votes new leaders, after former team being alleged of embezzlement and mismanaging the association. Three days later, a handover takes place today at Kimihurura, the Headquarters. Former leaders parade in pink, a uniform of inmates in Rwanda.

It’s about 10.30, very hot, the sun shines hard to resist. Media is out, but journalists wait, overseeing. None moves, cameras targeted on the get, recorders on, everyone in his corner, some up the fence. Lunch is taken in the garden.

People have come around, including motorcyclists, they want to see Bishops Tom and Jean Sibomana again, in a new suite without tie, neither bible.

After handover, all run to inter the van, afraid of cameras; but senior reporters managed to take some pictures and videos.

The new board is made of Rev. Karuranga Ephraim from north, as speaker, to replace Bishop Jean Sibomana who is in custody.

Rev John Karangwa who represented the institution in Uganda, is deputy speaker, to replace Bishop Tom Rwagasana, also detained.

The General Secretary is Pst Viateur Ruzibiza, former youth program manager and communication officer.

Others include Aulerie Umuhoza of finance unit, and Pst Patrick Nsengiyumva as adviser.

The former board is alleged of embezzlement of Rwfs 3.2 billion, even though they claim innocence.

Rev. Karuranga, the new sporks person, vows to respect Christians’ wishes and work in transparency, to promote unity.
