Candidate aspirant Diane Shima Rwigara has decided to give up on being a Belgian citizen to be able to give a tough test to the likes of ruling party’s President Paul Kagame, Green Party’s Frank Habineza, private candidates Gilbert Mwenedata and Fred Barafinda, as long as their candidatures are approved.
The tough decision came when the deceased billionaire Assinapol Rwigara’s heir handed over her presidential documents on Tuesday afternoon to the National Elections Commission’ Chairman Prof Kalisa Mbanda.
The decision comes after fellow candidate contestant and Green Party’s flag bearer Dr Frank Habineza also decided to remain Rwandan after he decided to reject Suedish Citizenship to be able to contest for the presidency spot ahead of the forthcoming presidential polls slated for August 3rd in Diaspora and 4th for locals.
Diane Rwigara has become the forth to submit the candidature after Dr Frank Habineza, Gilbert Mwenedata and Fred Btrafinda Sekikubo who already submitted their candidature last week, while Philippe Mpayimana is expected to submit his documents on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Paul Kagame, is yet to submit his documents after he was last weekend nominated by RPF Inkotanyi to represent the ruling party looking to lead another term ahead of the August presidential elections.
Kgame has already got support from Liberal Party (PL) and Social and Democratic Party (PSD) who decided to stand behind Kagame instead of approving anyone confident of representing them in the race to becoming President of the Republic.
