Two corrupt village authorities appeared fighting at public scene after wildly reacting to an unsatisfying amount of money they had to share, from a resident who wanted illegal construction in Muhanga district.
Here is Gahogo of Nyamabuye, the suburb in Muhanga, left side of the main road to Huye. The concerned are Kazungu, the Village Chief, and Ntaganzwa charged of Security. They are sharing drink at a bar while dealing how they would share the corrupt money.
One of the residents who witnessed the incident, says the duo failed to agree how the money would be shared and ended up fighting. Both have immediately to resign after the cell administration is aware of it.
In his own words, Ntaganzwa said that a local security agent known as Inkeragutabara, went to see the person who corrupted the two village authorities, to check whether he has a construction permit. But the fearsome Chief of Village Kazungu dodged the pork he ordered at the bar and ran away and disappeared from the place.
In the evening, Kazungu told Ntaganzwa to pay all the beer they consumed as a mutual fine after accusing him of providing information on different illegal buildings in the village.
At around 1 a.m during the night, Kazungu prepared an ambush at Ntaganzwa’s home where they thought until Ntaganzwa’s son called the Cell Executive Secretary to report the incident.
Reports from Ingufu.com say that Kazungu might no longer be the village chief from his own words.
Such improper behaviors among the two local leaders were approved by Innocent Kayiranga, the District Vice Mayor in Charge of Finance and Development, who said people have been reporting them to have been involved in different non-stop scandals that a local leader does not merit.
He said that the Kazungu and Ntaganzwa are no longer in their positions because they have been warned most of times before the decision to make them resign was taken.
« They did well decide resign by themselves. The incident happened as they could not manage the conflicts between them » said Kayiranga, adding that a village cannot have development as long as back-to-back conflicts happen between its representatives.
He said that the fact that they decided to resign is an indicator that they no longer merit to lead, they lack humility and the justice will hold them accountable.
At the moment, Jean de Dieu Uwizeyimana is an acting Village chief, while waiting elections process to be conducted.
