President Kagame to grace Havard’s CID Speaker Series

President Paul Kagame is expected in Havard University, on Friday March 10th, 2017 where he will be providing a lecture on ICT development and good governance.

A recent statement released by Havard University, which teaches development studies and ICT,  the university is waiting for Kagame, who he will be holding a conversation with students, researchers and different experts. He will be speaking as a guest lecturer in what is dubbed ‘A Conversation with His Excellency Paul Kagame’

The session is organized by the University’s Center of International Development (CID) department and will be moderated by Lant Pritchett, Professor of the Practice of International Development at Harvard Kennedy School, while Ricardo Hausmann, the Center’s Director will be leading the Session.

The department in the university was established to improve the understanding on the fight against poverty which is a threat to the world economy. In this session, Kagame will explain the measures that some countries take to recover from poverty.

“Over the last 200 years, new technology and forms of social organization have permitted many countries to attain an incredible improvement in living standards characterized by adequate food, shelter, clean water, education, good health, and enough income to live with dignity. However, many countries are still mired in poverty. What can these societies do to attain levels of human comfort that we know are achievable? These are the questions that animate the work at the Center for International Development” said Haussman ahead of the conversation.

He also believes that  President Kagame could be among key opinion personalities in the world who can give the answer to the researchers’ questions on eliminating poverty all over the world, which is a top  priority among the Center’s responsibilities.

Last year, on February 26th, when Kagame took part in the same conversation, he appeared to say that it could be too hard to find the solution to this problem except sharing what is available. Remaining optimistic that poverty’s durable solution can be found through joint efforts form authorities of all levels, but carefully.

He said,” the lives of millions of people are on the line. I wish anybody were to benefit from the measures taken from this meeting. That’s where many appear start referring to Rwanda,” he said

Havard University has kept faith in President Kagame, following the crucial role he played in stopping the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi, and the way his impact on Rwanda’s recovery form the past hard times to where it belongs today in different sectors of government thanks to good governance.
