Footage has captured two unmanned ground vehicles, equipped with huge machine guns, taking part in military drills outside of Moscow. The video was reportedly captured at the Alabino firing ground yesterday.
It shows two Russian tanks – Soratnik and Nerehta – in action for the first time, manned by the Central Command of the Russian Ground Forces.
Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Ground Forces Colonel General Oleg Salyukov told reporters: “During the drills, the two modular robotic platforms Soratnik and Nerehta took part in field firing, enacting of a tactical episode with a mechanised infantry squad.”
Soratnik is a UGV (unmanned ground vehicle) and is designed to providing fire support alongside an aerial drone. It is armed with a large calibre machine gun and four anti-tank grenade launchers.
Nerehta, on the other hand, is a universal tactical platform and can be equipped with various reconnaissance, battle and transport modules, Mirror.com reports .
Even more terrifying, it can operate autonomously, select its own targets as well as being commanded remotely from a distance of up to 5km.
Both can be controlled remotely without the need for soldiers travelling inside them
Earlier this week, shocking footage emerged showing the moment Russia’s ambassador to Turkey Andrei Karlov was repeatedly shot in apparent retaliation for the crisis in Aleppo.
Andrei Karlov was killed by his police protection officer who screamed “Allahu Akbar” and “Don’t forget Aleppo, don’t forget Syria .” He died after being shot as he delivered a speech at an art gallery in the capital of Ankara.
