Three days in the southern province for the electoral campaign, Kagame and his manifesto FPR-Inkotanyi remain unchanged, and full of promise for a better future of the nation; and especially youth. Residents also do not change, they remain intact, vis-à-vis the current to change the constitution in 2015.
A weekend during elections is not rest. After Ruhango (native region) and Nyanza (capital of kingdom) on Friday, the RPF team arrives near Nyungwe forest in Nyaruguru on Saturday, and close the day in Gisagara, the two districts are close to Burundi.
On Sunday, the third day is overloaded, as three districts are on the agenda: Nyamagabe, Huye (intellectual capital) and Kamonyi (near Kigali to the south). It is a newly urbanized district, a district with a moderate level of poverty according to statistics. Nonetheless, it is currently a district without mayor, since Aimable Udahemuka resigned from his position less than a month ago. Arriving in Nyamagabe, Kagame told residents that the journey into positive change has already begun, while he begged the support of the residents towards another prosperous era of seven years.
He said, “This campaign is about our dignity and our journey towards defining the future that we want and deserve. Voting RPF means choosing the change, security, economic growth, education and health of your children. To vote at the RPF, look first at where we came from. The moment of pain without gain has ended, it has come time to win large amounts of money “.
After Nyamagabe, Kagame and his team headed for the Huye stadium. He promised the residents the development in general and, starting from what has been done so far. He also showed his determination to move forward, reminding the residents that they were not created to lead a miserable life.
Kagame expresses his gratitude, “Thank you very much for choosing to support the RPF.” Today, we meet to share ideas and advice, celebrate for what we have already achieved and others waiting for ‘God did not create us to remain poor and stay behind others’.
So far, Huye has a modern market and a stadium built on international standards, among the four sites of the country that hosted the African Championship (CHAN) 2016. This city hosted the unique National University of Rwanda for around thirty years, hence to be called ‘intellectual capital’. There are still development projects under process for this district, as promised by the candidate of the RPF, party in power since July 1994, Paul Kagame.
“They buried us, they ignore whether we could live again”
In Kamonyi, Kagame recalls that these elections relate the bitter history of Rwanda. “Our recent story has plunged us into obscure and dark moments, but today Rwandans are united. We have the great thirst for building our country. That is why some do not understand it, because of their role in this bad story. They dug a grave for us, they did not know that they would get out of it.
From this anecdote, Kagame insists, “They put soil above the grave, they compressed and left. As rwandans, we germinated, we grew, today we are there, prosperous. Thus, the struggle continues over 23 years, preserve outputs of the struggle, ahead to a reassuring and brighter future.
For young people who do not know the events before the age of 23, Paul Kagame acknowledges that they are aware of it, through the consequences they have undergone. He confirms them, promising that it will never happen again.”Even those of our enemies cannot dare, they only speak; But we are acting in these development activities, peace and security. We are all capable, everyone is capable, let us be together, let’s build Rwanda together. ”
