Senate President Bernard Makuza has today joined Nyundo residents in Rubavu District to launch the 2017 Promotion of Girls’ Education campaign where he participated in the ceremony of awarding best performing girls in 2016 National Examinations.
The promotion of girls education campaign aim at raising awareness & fight against gender impairment in education system in Rwanda.
Senator Makuza congratulated girls and encouraged them to keep on performing well in their respective schools as their name titled ‘Inkubito z’ Icyeza’ explains.
“We thank the rewarded best performing girls for their hardworking and I encourage them to keep on working hard to cement a bright future of success,” Makuza said.
For the last 11 years, 4,438 girls have been rewarded in recognition of their excellent performance at national exams from different cycles.
The rewarded girls receive scholastic materials, funds to create savings accounts and laptops as well as ICT training for girls in the Advanced level.
And this time around, the awarding ceremonies will take place concurrently in Rubavu and Nyamasheke for Day One, Nyaruguru and Muhanga for Day Two and Bugesera for the closing.
This year, Imbuto Foundation will reward 202 Primary and Ordinary levels and 25 girls from Advanced level. The events will take place in different districts.
