During a recent two-day visit to Israel, president Paul Kagame was warmly welcomed by Israel top leaders, being considered as one of Israel’s very important friends in Africa.
In case Israel approves shows interest in openly partnering with African continent, Rwanda could highly benefit from the country’s investment and Tedchnology known as IDE, that could hugely impact on its development policy implementation.
Israel, in return, would find it easir to get close to Africa, passing through Rwanda.
IDE [Israeli Water Desalination] is an israeli’s top company in water maintenance, whose technology serves in separating water and salt where the separated water can be consumed or used during irrigation process.
Kagame landed Tel Aviv back on Sunday, and got warm welcome from Israel’s top officials led by President Reuven Rivlin and Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu where they host him in Jerusalem.
According to La Tribune Afrique, the way Kagame was welcomed was, by no means, far warmer than American President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister were when they last visited Israel and it was a turning point into which Israel expect from the visit, which was considered as ‘historic’ by Israeli media.
Kagame and Israeli officials discussed different ties that both countries can benefit from, but this time, they both focused on economic ties.
Kgame told Israeli media that, “ partnership between our countries is obviously progressing in different sectors like technology, agriculture, energy and security. We appreciate wht Israel offers us and what it is planning to offer us in future in these sectors and so would we be happy to work together in further sectors”
Kagame also emphasised that Rwanda is ready to welcome private investors from Israel, with total hope after Israeli Minister Netanyahu accomplished what he promised when he last visited four African countries for the first time in 2016.
He said Rwanda wisjes to continue good partnership with Israel on common challenges and common interests between both countries in terms of security.
Rwanda is an important friend on Africa-Israel cooperation
Israeli Minister Netanyahu does not hide his feelings on Kagame, “ we are very happy to get a very good friend in Kagame, the president of the Republic of Rwanda”
“I think that Israel is very lucky to have him [Kagame] as a leader. Welcome, my friend,” Netanyahu added.
During the visit completed on Monday, the meeting that brought together Rwanda and Israel’s top officials was held to see the current shape of the cooperation between both countries and how it can be strengthened.
Kagame last visited Israel back in 2008 and in 2014 where both countries signed deals of partnership which led to a positive idea for Rwanda to open an embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel a year later.
Kagame tirelessly showed Israel, that Rwanda is among its African friends, and, in addition, that both countries share the same history of having been at the centre of Genocide perpetrated to their people but bidding to bounce back from the tragic history and keep the rebuilding process on the right and pacy track towards development.
On March 26th, Kagame was honored to be the special guest at the late American Israel Public Affairs Conference (AIPAC), being the only Afdrican President who was invited at the conference and deliver a speech since it started.
On the other hand, Israel has, for a long time, been firsty of fresh cooperation with African Continent where, in June, Benjamin Netanyahu, was for the first time invited to participate at 15-country member CEDEAO summit, while in October he will be expected in Lome, Togo, in a conference between Israel and African continent where 20 heads of states are expected to take part.
Israel, therefore, given the cooperation it has with Rwanda, the now leader of African Union, wants to maintain ties with Rwanda, with the profit expected form the cooperation to hopefully be an example to other countries and open doors Israel, which is it potential mission, for now.
A number of African countroes have been showing their interest in working with Israel, with fresh bid to reopen the diplomatic coopeartion with it.
