Gen Kale Kayihura’s lawyer, Kampala Associated Advocates (KAA) claim their client wishes President Museveni Kaguta’s intervention in his matter for he believes he is facing injustice.

During yesterday press conference on Kayihura’s order, Lawyers said the Gen. is now asking President Yoweri Museveni to intervene in what he feels is injustice against him.

Lawyer Jet Tumwebaze said he has instructions from the General who has been in military detention for 35 days.
Tumwebaze says Kayihura still believes in the military judicial process and has not applied for a writ of habeas corpus to challenge his detention beyond 48 hours, which is contrary to Uganda’s constitution.

Meanwhile, though it is not clear what charges he faces but there has been a lot of speculation in the mainstream and social media.
Gen. Kayihura who is a serving soldier was the police chief for about 13 years.

Gen. Kayhura also has requested commander in chief, to restrain the Internal Security Organization (ISO) from dehumanizing their client in the media.

It is now 35 days since former Inspector General of Police General Kale Kayihura was picked up on 13th June from his upcountry home in Kashagama, Lyantonde district.

He was subsequently confined at Makindye Military barracks and is yet to be produced in court.
