Armed men said to be security officials have on Tuesday this week arrested Rwanda national, Philip Rwakibibi at Trinity Bus Terminal in Kampala.

Chimpreports broke the story an eyewitness said that Rwakibibi tried to put up resistance before being overpowered by men carrying pistols.

“We were shocked to see men jumping out of a Rav 4 brand car and ordering Phillip to give in,” official at the bus terminal who preferred anonymity told the website.

“The men said they were from security and pulled out pistols; threatening to shoot Phillip. He had to surrender. They led him to their car and drove off.” Official added

Rwakibibi’s wife, Jeanette, confirmed that her husband was taken by security officers.

“I was later told that people from security took him. I don’t know where he is and I am so traumatized,” she  said  adding “He is just a casual worker and his background has nothing to do with the military or security in Rwanda”

Rwakibibi, a Rwandan of Congolese origin, loads buses that ply the Kampala-Goma, DRC route.

Uganda’s Defence Spokesperson Brig Richard Karemire said he had “no idea” about the matter.

The Chief of Military Intelligence Brig Abel Kandiho told the website he was “out of the country”.

Meanwhile, Uganda’s military intelligence personnel have previously arrested Rwandans whom officials say are suspected of involvement in espionage and other acts that threaten Uganda’s national security.

Trinity Bus Company is owned by Rtd Col Twahirwa Dodo.
