Businesses lost millions of dollars due to Rwanda-Uganda standoff


The East African Business Council is set to unveil a detailed assessment of the closure of border between the two partner states Uganda and Rwanda at Katuna-Gatuna, NTV has learnt

The Director of Public affairs and communication at the East African Business Council, Simon Kaheru says preliminary findings show that the business community in the region has lost millions of dollars since Rwanda decided close her border at Gatuna.

” We talk about millions of dollars, we compare numbers of importers and exporters and we present them to the council of ministers. We want to be understood at Arusha to those political leaders.” Kaheru said




However, Rwanda denied the closure of Gatuna border citing there is ongoing construction works at the area. Recently, officials said about 90% of the expected works are over.
