Four behind the bar over drug trafficking in Rulindo District
Police in Rulindo District are holding behind the bar four people since Saturday over trafficking 80 kilograms of cannabis.
The Police spokesperson for the Northern region, CIP Hamdun Twizeyimana, identified the suspects as Celestine Vuguziga, Claude Sebashitsi, Albert Ndahayo and Pascal Mutariyani.
CIP Twizeyimana says the Toyota Collora plate number RAB 306 was loaded with the narcotics.
“It was in the dark at around 10pm. They refused to stop at a police checkpoint and sped off, which prompted officers to trail them,” he said
“The suspects were driving at night with lights off when they reach Rulindo, they branched off in Bushoki Sector but Police pursued them, they checked the car and recovered a sack of cannabis weighting 80kgs. All the four people, who were on board were immediately taken into custody,” he added
“The vehicle was impounded and handed over to Rwanda Investigation Bureau as well as the suspects.” He complimented
Under Article 594 of the Penal Code, any person who, unlawfully imports or sells narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances is liable to a term of imprisonment of three to five years and a fine of Rwf 500, 000 to Rwf 5 million.
