The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Sudan Mr. Nhial Deng Nhial clarifies the official position of his country on “sadr” and other Sahrawi entity.
During his official meeting in Rabat – Morocco (19-20 October 2018) with his counterpart Mr. Nasser Bourita, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of South Sudan Mr. Nhial Deng Nhial clarified in a joint communiqué, the official position of his country, according to which the “Republic of South Sudan has never had any kind of diplomatic ties and is not maintaining any relation with the so-called “sadr” or any other sahrawi entity”.
Mr. Nhial Deng Nhial expressed his country’s support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and lauded the Initiative of Autonomy Plan proposed by the Kingdom of Morocco in order to find a political solution for the regional dispute over the issue of the Moroccan Sahara, while reiterating the full support of the Republic of South Sudan to the role played by the United Nations as an exclusive and consensual framework to reach a lasting solution to this regional dispute.
Mr. Nhial Deng Nhial, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of South Sudan, paid a working visit to Morocco on 19 and 20 October 2018 at the invitation of Mr. Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Morocco,
This official meeting between the two Ministers aimed to strengthening the ties of friendship, cooperation and solidarity between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of South Sudan. In this regard, Mr. Nhial Deng Nhial voiced the deep and heartfelt appreciation of the Republic of South Sudan and its people for the deployment in Juba in 2017 of the Medical-Surgical field Hospital by the Royal Armed Forces, as well as for the bulk of actions undertaken during the official visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to South Sudanin February 2017,
On this occasion the two Ministers took stock of the dynamic and strong relations between Morocco and South Sudan and reaffirmed their firm determination to give a new impetus and diversify fields of bilateral cooperation to make it a beneficial partnership for both countries, especially by promoting key sectors of common interest, pursuant to the High Directives of the Two Heads of State, His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco and His Brother His Excellency SalvaKiirMayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan.
During these discussions, the opportunity was offered to review the actions that have been already achieved to infuse the desired dynamic to the cooperation between the two brotherly countries in the considered areas. A particular emphasis was placed on the cooperation between the two countries in the field of Infrastructure and Habitat, Agriculture and livestock, Industry, Mining, Vocational Training, Social Development and Health.
The two Sides reviewed regional and international issues of common interest and welcomed the converging positions of both countries relating to those raisedquestions.
Mr. Nasser Bourita congratulated Mr. Nhial Deng Nhial for reaching a revitalized peace Agreement, signed on 12 September 2018, calling it a bold move for creating a stable and prosperous South Sudan. ln this respect, Mr. Bourita reiterated Morocco readiness to contribute to the consolidation of the stability and peace building process in South Sudan.
While lauding the actions undertaken by Morocco in favor of the stability and development of Africa as a whole, Mr. Nhial Deng Nhial magnified the vision of the Kingdom of Morocco on the reinforcement of South-South and inter-African cooperation.
