Pupils in Rusizi District cry for help
Pupils at Nyampanga Primary School in Gitambi, Rusizi beg for a help due to the poor learning environment.
In exclusive interview with Bwiza.com they said the so-called classes do not protect them both rain and sun which hinders their learning activities.
“How can you properly learn within these conditions? There are no glasses in windows, the windy rain fall over us. It destroys our equipments like books, etc.” a level six pupil narrates the story.
“We do not know if school, sector managements lack cement to repair old floor in our classes. They had better consult our parents for a help. It is difficult for us to ensure hygiene; there is mud in rain and dust in dry (…).” Colleague added
School Headmaster, Théoneste Nsengiyumva admits the existence of the matter citing it beyond their financial capacity of the school.
“We have witnessed the breaking of window glasses because of wind, we have so far not repaired them but we are in process. It hinders teaching sessions; it will require 500,000Frw which is a big budget for us.”
However, Rusizi District Vice-Mayor in Charge of Social Affairs, Emmanuel Nsigaye said government has already allocated funds to deal with similar matters adding they are going to do a thorough follow up on this matter.
