Rwanda has decided to close both borders with Democratic Republic Of Congo due to the confirmation of second Ebola case in Goma, the city wich borders with Rubavu.
The Congolese were shocked by the unexpected closure this morning.
Lt. Col. Dr. William Kanyakore, Gisenyi Hospital Director confirmed the development.
“Borders were closed, wait for the announcement regarding the reason of the decision, and stay posted.” He said
Residents told said they are worried how they are going to survive.
“ It is very tough for us, I have been working in Goma, it said the border will be closed for 21.” Said Dufitumukiza Elisaphan, Rubavu District resident.
This is contrary to the directives form WHO that no country is allowed to close border in order to avoid illegal crossing, which can cause quick spread of Ebola.
