Two teachers arrested for beating students who celebrated Real Madrid victory


Police in Rwamagana District has detained two teachers at Bicumbi Teacher Training Center in charge of discipline for beating 21 students who celebrated Real Madrid’s Champions League trophy victory on Saturday.

Speaking to TV 1, one of the students said they were drugged into mud and highly beaten for their jubilation towards Real Madrid victory.

“We were  drugged onto mud and highly beaten because of celebrating Real Madrid victory”

The Head of the host health Center Emmanuel Mutanguha confirms he received 21 students since Saturday.

“They came for treatment  for they were beaten, 17 of them were discharged while other remaining six are still hospitalised for they experienced trauma due to what happened”

Headmaster of the school Bernadette Nikuze claims the duo committed mistakes for they punished students without her awareness

“It is unacceptable; they did not seek advice before punishing these students”

Article 182 of Rwanda Penal Code states beating and injury crimes are sentenced to serve two months to two years imprisonment.
