We don’t have any case against Kayihura, says UPDF senior officer
The Uganda People Defence Forces claim they are very cautious to slap charges against former Police Chief Gen Kale Kayihura.
The UPDF senior defence official on condition of anonymity to speak freely told Chimpreoprts that military is taking keen interest in the investigation into the reign of Gen Kale Kayihura to avoid making mistakes.
“So far, we don’t have any case against him. And we don’t want to take chances,” said a senior defence officer adding “Kale is a big name. We are aware about that. You don’t want to make mistakes.”
The official said there was need of tangible proof before any charge can be slapped against the former presidential military assistant.
Army spokesperson Brig Richard Karemire recently said Kayihura was “okay” and could be accessed by his family members and lawyers.
Bwiza.com understands that en Kayihura was questioned about the assassination of his former AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi. Allegations that Kayihura refuted saying “Why would I kill Kaweesi? For what?”
Kayihura has been in detention since March 13 when he was airlifted by an army chopper from his farm in Lyantonde – western Uganda.
